# Not really because "scene opens with a small ship being attacked by a larger ship" squared is not "star"
(, Mon 4 Jan 2010, 17:15, archived)
# Maybe "Scene" is valued at 3 and "Star" is valued at 9
You want me to convert everything into a numerical value or can it just be left as a stupid movie joke?

# No awards though at the end of Das Boot.
They all get killed.
(, Mon 4 Jan 2010, 17:28, archived)
# What about The Cruel Sea then?
There's no awards, but they all stand around and slap each other on the back at the end.

And they all kind of like each other all the way through too. And there are no heroes or villains; just men and the sea. They're very careful to make that point. So really it's nothing at all like this. But there are ships.
(, Mon 4 Jan 2010, 18:42, archived)
# Nonsense
The heroes are the men, the heroines are the ships and the only enemy is the sea. The cruel sea. That man has made more cruel.

And the bit where the ship jumps to 'Ludicrous Speed'

# Storytelling,
as an art form, is inherently unoriginal as the best stories are those that follow established formula and have traditional character archetypes. Star Wars is basically Robin Hood in space, after all. Lord of the Rings is basically the Iliad, The Incredible Hulk is Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Superman is Jesus and Battle Star Galactica is Exodus (although those last two are on purpose).

Plus, I hated every single Star Wars movie ever made, but I derived enjoyment from watching Star Trek, and that has to count for something.

Anyway, in Star Trek the ship that can destroy planets is from the future.
