The 36th Cambridge Real Ale Festival

Take one very large tent, add 80 odd beers, 30 ciders and perrys, a few dozen european bottled lagers and some wine.

Populate with people

Drink!

Welcome one and all, i'll be there for my annual homage to terminal liver abuse, best days are Tuesday to Thursday

5'10, dark shortish hair that needs a cut, blue jeans, brown Foosball 87 teeshirt or grey jumper depending on the weather and a black jacket.

oh and probably a rollup

Come say Hi, i'll be there from 1-ish and all evening

I'll be there

with bells and whistles on.

There is a very good chance

that I'll have to run a trip there with my university Ale Sock. Still, it was a good outing last year. Just have to make sure I know what time the last train's going back to London this time...

You may have seen me there then

Its my summer holiday! plus i haven't missed one since 1994!

For next year, we'll probably have to agree on some sort of distinguishing feature

Your best bet is to look for a bloke with longish dark hair, about 6'2", probably wearing a black felt trilby hat, and with an entourage of undergraduates who all look a bit lost.

I'm going to sign up and try my best to be there.

Bit far for me mid-week, but let's give it a shot...

I don't normally drink alcohol*

But I'll be there...

* May contain traces of a slight fib...

Well, I'm from Cambs

and have never yet been to the beer festival. I think it's time to rectify this.

(, Wed 17 Dec 2008, 12:07, Reply)
thats ok

I have done the last 14 in a row so we are averaging 7 between us!

I always thought I was the sole B3tan from Cambs...

Then I found out Kaol and Halfy are from thereabouts too...now The Empress.

Yeah...

There abouts!
I'm a "Nooorf Essix bloke" in theory.
But, yeah, Camb sounds better.

I'm from South Cambs

roughly halfway between Cambridge and Royston. From the chalk, rather than the fens.

Oooh, my ears are burning!

I'll be there!

Yay! B3ta & Beer in Cambridge! Do we need some kind of badge or secret handshake?

(, Thu 8 Jan 2009, 14:40, Reply)
no no

all you need is a big wallet, sturdy liver and the ability to blather!

(, Sat 10 Jan 2009, 13:00, Reply)
I'll probably recognise you

But I've never met any of the others. I'll wear a b3ta badge anyway. My first bash was Easty's in Cambridge and it was only because he was so ginger that I dared to ask if I'd found a bash.

I don't think I'll be able to make this year's

*sigh* seeing as how I live in australia.

But if you're still organising it in 2011 I'll be there! I've never been to a beer festival! And I'm going to the UK very late 2010.

Time to start my campaign

for some realistic public transport from Birmingham to Cambridge. 3 hours each way? Puh-lease.

(, Tue 19 May 2009, 7:34, Reply)
