This is a normal post I guess it depends on the item/use
If it's decorative, I can understand the desire to have an artisan object. But, to use the linked example, if I was actually going out shooting I would prefer a computer controlled manufacturing process to meet those infinitesimal tolerances required for perfect accuracy.

I don't think that necessarily puts something in the realm of cheapness, either. For example, my mate works for a company that makes carbon fibre components for F1 cars. A process that's heavily computer controlled and perfected (aside from the actual laying up of the carbon fibre itself). But those components still cost the earth/perform their task in a far superior way to when things were all hand-tooled by highly skilled craftsmen.
