It's a list of possible excuses.
But by all means, keep saying it isn't.

so YOU see them as excuses
how are they excusing him? None of them force him to use the words he did

I don't see them as excuses, but you present them as such.
Nor do I see the victimhood you project on to him with such alacrity as an excuse. Mitigation, slightly, maybe.

So you don't see them as excuses now and I know they aren't
good, glad to have cleared that up for you

Here's an idea, next time just say what you think of him instead of telling other people what their opinions are
If you want to condemn him, be brave enough to say you do and why

Er,
I posted the actual link along with a rhetorical question, I thought my condemnation, although implicit technically, was pretty obvious. Not for the first time, I have overestimated /links. If people respond when I post a link, I might respond to their response. I hope that's OK with you.

It wasn't a rhetorical question, you definitely wanted people to explain his actions to you

Ah, you're a mind reader are you? What star sign are you?
You really think I posted because I needed an explanation of why people behave badly on Twitter? Really? You think that unknown phenomenon of the Twitter troll had passed me by? You've lost it mate.

I don't think any moral condemnation was implied
When you say "Why do people think they can do this?" it surely couldn't refer to the act itself, as thousands if not millions of people do similar without consequence at all, and it would be odd if you found his minor bitching somehow repugnant seeing as though you seem to constantly engage in online criticism and putdowns yourself, please spare me asking for examples
It seemed more likely that you were refering to his foolish belief that his previous trolling would could go undiscovered in a senior position, perhaps a fair point of misjudgement but hardly a moral condemnation. Either way it wasn't "pretty obvious" as your rather schoolboy argumentative ploy asserts "I underestimated links, they are no match for my collosal intellect. And whatever you say bounces of me and sticks to you"

Thank you.
I knew he was just being obtuse, or at least feigning to be.
