Problem isn't contractors, it's management who allow this unchecked. Trusts need an auditing authority that trump all decisions other than clinical. IT contractors work and never have their role scrutinised...that is a management issue. Put the auditors on a bonus scheme, let them be tyrannical...it would solve a lot of issues in the NHS.
