This is a question This book changed my life

The Goat writes, "Some books have made a huge impact on my life." It's true. It wasn't until the b3ta mods read the Flashman novels that we changed from mild-mannered computer operators into heavily-whiskered copulators, poltroons and all round bastards in a well-known cavalry regiment.

What books have changed the way you think, the way you live, or just gave you a rollicking good time?

Friendly hint: A bit of background rather than just a bunch of book titles would make your stories more readable

The God Delusion
It didn't convert me so much as shore up what I'd already felt. It's lonely being an atheist in Texas and at the time, there wasn't much pro-atheist literature about. I read it and thought "Yes, that's it!" It has indeed changed the way I see the world and for the better. I'm actually much happier as an atheist than I was as an agnostic.

You poor blighter!
You must have a very sore tongue from biting it all the time!
I read this recently as well, finally putting to rest all my misgivings about the religious 'certainties' I had been bought up with. I went to a Church of England school and christian concepts were very much part of everyday life. To the extent of being told to 'go to your desk and pray to Jesus to help you' when I couldn't understand the concept of subtraction at age 7.
I very much enjoy conversations with religious people, and pointing out flaws in their arguments. But trying steer away from the old 'you must be an instrument of the devil if you question god' get-out clause can be very tricky.
I think this is an awesome self-help book and should be given to anyone who believes in a higher power and is intelligent enough not to have to.
Good choice!
