Look. It's Rob Manuel here and I'm fucking
hungover and I can't write a proper newsletter
so I'm going to write it in the first person
and just ramble.
This might be a bad idea but here goes.
-------------------------------------------------
: ACTUAL REAL NEWS! B3TA ON TWITTER!
Blimey!
I've decided to start a proper @B3ta account.
CR3 is working on a special project to make
interesting things happen on it all the time.
There's nothing on it now, but please follow,
as we're planning to launch AMAZING THINGS.

-------------------------------------------------
: OOH ANOTHER THING! WHERE IS ROB TINSLEY?
Seriously - does anyone know? He wrote the
B3tards site back in the day and it's gone off
line so we've lost loads of old images. Can
someone find him? We'd happily pay him for his
time to help us out getting the images back.

: WHAT B3TA PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS WEEK
Drinking, drinking and more drinking
>> VIDEO: The Outsider <<
BrokenToaster writes, "A man spots a feral man
in the bushes near his flat..."
http://www.b3ta.com/links/The_Outsider
>> ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO: Google cat killer <<
Smearballs writes, "I made a little video
outlining the dangers of driverless car
technology. No cats were killed in the making of
this video."
http://www.b3ta.com/links/Google_cat_killer
>> FLASH: Post University Simulator <<
LeoZ writes, "I've made a game about the
crushing feeling of despair that descends when
you finish uni and can do nothing but face the
misery that is early adulthood in 2014." Bloody
hell! It's a flash project! Let's party like
it's B3ta 2002! (This is very good though)

: USVSTH3M STUFF
This is possibly why I am hungover.
Office parties are bad, kids, don't do them.
* Gender Switch Your Name - What would your
parents have called you if you were born the
opposite gender? Contains FACT.
http://games.usvsth3m.com/gender-switch-your-name/
* Which 8-bit Computer Are You? - Spectrum, C64,
BBC or Amstrad?
http://games.usvsth3m.com/which-8-bit-computer-are...
* What's The Theme Tune Of Your Life? - It's the
song that was #1 on your 14th birthday.

: QUESTION OF THE WEEK
You know, words.
This might not be written up properly, due to
the aforementioned hangover.
I'm getting memories of people holding my hand
and weeping. Did that really happen?
This week, we're asking about fantasists.
http://www.b3ta.com/questions/fantasists/
Last week: you wrote about being sacked, and
you came up with a lot of good reasons.
http://www.b3ta.com/questions/sackedagain/
-------------------------------------------------
: THREE THINGS I JUST FANCY TELLING YOU ABOUT
Yeah, not links, art, music and people
* Recently I saw Stewart Lee perform John Cage's
'Indeterminacy'. It was awesome. Bloke reading
out cards that made little sense whilst getting
heckled by onstage musicians. It felt like my
life - a rambling inner monologue interrupted by
people pushing me off my true path.
* Also Luke Haines's new album is great - another
one of his concept albums, this about 1970s New
York musicians. It's recorded so quietly it
sounds like the sex you have when you're trying
not to wake your kids (or parents, do we still
have young readers?). But the live performance
was something else - righteous rock and roll.
* Very excited to meet John Higgs, the author of
'The KLF: Chaos, Magic and the Band who Burned a
Million Pounds' this week. Trying to get him to
do a bit of writing for UsVsTh3m about the most
esoteric shit he can think of. The man has a
fantastic mind and needs money thrown at him to
continue with his head turning analysis of the
world.

: B3TA IMAGE CHALLENGE
Results from the Smash Hits Challenge
Last week we asked you to travel back to the 80s
and have fun with the rich cultural tapestry that
was Smash Hits magazine.
Our favourites included:
* Rick: The infamous misprint that started it
all (Afinkawan)
http://b3ta.com/board/11080598
* AHA: Knowing me, Knowing Morten (HappyToast)
http://b3ta.com/board/11080864
* Bros: Poor Craig (monkeon)

All these images, and your favourites
can be found here:

>> New challenge: Fake Infographics <<
This week's challenge is to create impressive
looking informative diagrams, but don't worry
about the facts, you can just make that stuff
up. Challenge inspired by
Spellingmistakescostlives and suggested by
Monkeon

: STAR IN NEXT WEEK'S ISSUE
Things I'd really like to see include
* THE KLF REFORMING - ok this isn't that
realistic and would damage the myth.
I'd still buy tickets.
* THE QUEEN TO SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST - dunno
really, just rambling but it wouldn't be dull.
* WHERE THE **** IS MY ***ING ****? This should
be a service that finds shit, as this is the
phrase I spend a lot of time mumbling hung over
anyway.

THANKS:
This issue was written by Rob Manuel with Tom
Scott as beleaguered stand-in editor who's
hoping that Rob doesn't check this bit. (It's
been a strange half hour, I'll be honest.)
Image challenge by Fraser Lewry. Mike
Trinder is QOTW bloke.
