# yep, tried telling her that, too
like most believers, she won't listen to reason and when faced with facts, does the equivalent of covering her ears and going 'lalalalaican'thearyoulalala'

# Since humanity began 100 billion people have been born
50% of them never made it to adulthood, good job "God" thanks for that.

# most of the problem is that these people can't deal with uncertainty
and prefer instead to believe that everything will be taken care of by somebody much more powerful than them

# Nobody wants to think about death and nothingness
But it is better than wasting our time on a baseless mythical fairy story, it gives life less worth if you think you get another go hence bomb filled underpants, just imagine if we had put all the effort that has gone into churches and religion into science? We would have hover boards by now :-(

# i could have my bionic eye!
that said, those brief periods of existential uncertainty and fear of mortality are horrible, especially at night. the phrase "bomb filled underpants" is making me smile, though :)

# My moments of existential uncertainty and fear give me a kick up the ass to enjoy life
Tim minchin says alot of good stuff about this ^ he was on desert island discs the other day and he put it better than i ever could, we are so insignificant in the universe that it is amazing that we exist at all, when i think about that i smile.

# that's pretty much the way i see it
but when you're alone in the dark and a bit paranoid, it still freaks you out

# Ask yourself this.
How much did you fear death the 200000 years before you were born?
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 13:19, archived)
# i didn't, i wasn't born

# And this is what pisses me off the most!
That everything that happens good or bad, is 'something/someone else is responsible for'. God/Satan is not like some vending machine you put prayers in and you get a free ticket to Heaven out. Personal responsibility please. I know this is blindingly simplified and hard to explain, but I have real trouble when people blame things on/attribute things to the actions of some all-seeing omnipotent deity. I'd better stop now.

# I smile when i hear Tim Tebow thank God for helping him win a game
Or when some numpty thanks God when they recieve some shitty award? Whilst there are children starving to death every minute of every day.
WTF.
