It'd be nice not to have to play it behind closed doors for a change.

I've never played that game or heard of it before playing Uncharted (where he shouts it if he's in a swimming pool)
I had no idea what he was on about

My first introduction to it was some cheesy 80's teen comedy that involved a tatty old house which was eventually rebuilt over the course of a 2 minute montage.
They played it in that.
Still not entirely sure how it works, but it seems a wee bit like a game we called 'It', just with added sonar location.

Were they not in a swimming pool?
the standard format is water based i.e. Marco Polo being a variant of Water Polo

The film I saw had them running around streets and alleys.
EDIT:
"The game Marco Polo is a form of tag played in a swimming pool.[1]
One player is chosen as "It". This player closes their eyes and tries to find and tag the other players without the use of vision. The player who is "It" shouts out "Marco" and the other players must respond by shouting "Polo", which "It" uses to try to acoustically locate them. If a player is tagged then that player becomes "It".[2]
The game can also be played on land as well, with slightly modified rules. It is similar to Blind man's bluff where one person is blindfolded while others choose hiding places around the room."
Thanks, Wiki.
