# i'm not sure
i just found it on my lawn. It doesn't look in pain, in that it's just sitting there. But i don't think it can move, so it may have a broken leg/wing.
I tried poking some bread at it and it just didn't move at all.

# i can't check if it's a homing pigeon
cos I can't get to its legs.

# maybe it was someone
sending you a message, and it'll just go away once you take it off it. but it's a stupid creature so it won't let you get to it.

# Does it have a ring?
If it does, it's a domestic pigeon (at least, over here in the Netherlands that would be the case).

We had one in our garden last week. Stayed for the night, then left. Just resting, I guess.

If it isn't hurt, just wait it out a bit.

And, pigeons have about the IQ of a brick, so it probably forgot it is alive.

# pigeons
are very hard to save. they tend to go into shock and die from whatever injury they have, or from being handled. sad but true. I would just leave it and if a fox gets it, at least it's a quick death, and the fox gets a good meal.

# ah,
the great circle of life.

# I think
i'll leave it then. As much as i'd love to save its life, i think i'm being a bit too idealistic and even if i save it from the foxes it'll still die. And as you say it'll be quick (ish) this way.
And I do feel sorry for the foxes.
