ok sorry to jack again
but i'm a bit worried about this bird.
Someone walking their dog just stopped and chatted to me and she suggested maybe putting it in a box overnight, because even on a table foxes/cats will get it.
Do i let nature take its course, or try and save the pigeon?

i'm not sure
i just found it on my lawn. It doesn't look in pain, in that it's just sitting there. But i don't think it can move, so it may have a broken leg/wing.
I tried poking some bread at it and it just didn't move at all.

i can't check if it's a homing pigeon
cos I can't get to its legs.

maybe it was someone
sending you a message, and it'll just go away once you take it off it. but it's a stupid creature so it won't let you get to it.

Does it have a ring?
If it does, it's a domestic pigeon (at least, over here in the Netherlands that would be the case).
We had one in our garden last week. Stayed for the night, then left. Just resting, I guess.
If it isn't hurt, just wait it out a bit.
And, pigeons have about the IQ of a brick, so it probably forgot it is alive.

pigeons
are very hard to save. they tend to go into shock and die from whatever injury they have, or from being handled. sad but true. I would just leave it and if a fox gets it, at least it's a quick death, and the fox gets a good meal.

I think
i'll leave it then. As much as i'd love to save its life, i think i'm being a bit too idealistic and even if i save it from the foxes it'll still die. And as you say it'll be quick (ish) this way.
And I do feel sorry for the foxes.

i can't kill it
it's either leave it to my cat/foxes or a shoebox. I'm worried that putting it in a box would be really stressful too though..

it'll save the poor git from suffering excess pain

Give it to the cat then
and upload some pictures of the resultant slaughter.

Kill it
Fucking rat with wings that it is.
Unless it's a baby one, in which case trap it in a box and take photos to prove to the world that they exist - you'll make millions!

Did I tell you
about the theory i heard that baby pidgeons don't exist as the birds are in fact a network of high tech cctv flying cameras designed to track the worlds populace?

The RSPCA regard pigeons as vermin
as such they don't try to help them and possibly neither should you...?
