some people
get touchy about their images attracting anything but praise in the replies - they're usually not representative of the typical b3tan though. most people are happy to get replies of any kind, and if someone has something similar they can reply with then so much the better
however, if you'd reposted in a new thread, that can get more people's backs up, again for no good reason but that is covered in the FAQ as being a 'bad thing'

I would say
reposts in new threads are generally bad.
Not terribly keen on reposts from a few hours earlier, either ...

I hadn't read the FAQ at that time
and as everybody else seemed to do it and in new threads I thought it was a board standard. I didn't have any negative responses and I wasn't looking for a better response only to allow others the chance to see the cartoon again. I shan't ever repost again, but I certainly believe no matter how bad you think reposting is does it really deserve being called a c**t for - If anybody said that to my face I would rip them to pieces.

go for it
it might help calm people down a bit around here
as has been mentioned, people learn by example - if that's what you'd seen, it's obvious you'd have assumed it was standard practice. sadly, people get sworn at, then assume that is standard practice...
glad you're still here and going strong :)
