# not my flatmate, but my landlady
When I first moved in, landlady said she wasn't living in the house, but then decided to randomly stay in the living room with her smelly dog whenever it suited her. She continually harangued me for the slightest grievance - leaving the (40W) hall light on, coming in after 10pm, etc. One time I accidentally left an electric hob on, she went ape and scrawled TURN THE HOBS OFF in black marker pen on the dining room wall.
I asked to leave and submitted a month's written notice, which she accepted in a quite civil manner. But I naively got no countersigned copy. Come my moving out, she pretended to have never received such notice, threw me out and kept my deposit. Then rang me up and abused me after I reported her to the uni accomodation office as a bad landlady (I found she had similarly ripped off a friend some months before).
This happened about December time, I left no forwarding address so that she wouldn't bother me in future, and got no Christmas cards as a result. :-(
