Bagpuss scared the shit out of me. I always associated it with my great-grandma's place, which smelled of wee - it had the same sepia-tinted aura to it. Plus my great-grandmother went bonkers and started slitting her hubby's throat with a straight razor and had to be carted off by the men in white coats.
