Yes
PSD's tend to do that.
either Jpeg or Gif are your friend.

But the larger file size
counts against it, and lets face it, most things posted on here hardly need to worry aobut being incerdibly well encoded/optimised.

Not if you
are using the the standard photoshop PNG encoder. It makes the filesizes stupidly high.
For b3ta purposes, JPEGS and GIFs do the job fine and keep the filesizes small.
