representing the turning of the sun, used by many cultures, from the Celts to Hinduism
Many really old churches have swastika symbols, mainly because they were built at a time they were still really busy converting the inlanders, and thought they'd humour them a bit by using their symbols.

yes, i'm aware of the symbolism of the swastika...
...but i'm not superstitious about these god-things or other imaginary beings, so i just covet the fixture because it makes people uncomfortable.
