I just would think that clothes could factor in somewhat.
And there is that picture of the overweight person who went splat without bloodyness... shirly you've seen it.

works the same as a Crumplezone in a car
the increase in size (especially as fat is easily moveable and malleable and not attached as tort that muscles and so on) would allow the momentum to dissipate over the greater distance, thus decreasing the final force acted upon the body
