# So what? You rather they gave nothing?
Yes, it's a marketing stratagy, but if it helps people, I'm all for it.
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:38, archived)
# I'm sure they could have given them the whole £43M without loosing too much sleep
Hopefully ASDA will give them £500K and start a PR war
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:50, archived)
# I see your point
giving away 250 grand for all that publicity!

that's almost as cheeky as you trying to wedge that image into the flag compo.

# so basically this post is
complaining about Tescos doing the right thing?
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:49, archived)
# yeah.
well, they're doing a good thing, but for potentially cynical reasons.

but whatever.
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:51, archived)
# the right thing? 250 k? the fucking skinflints
the right thing would be for the government to get hold of farepaks owner and garotte the fucker
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:54, archived)
# yes
but Tescos aren't even the same company. Not even slightly their fault. You're right about farepaks, mind.

# perchance, why 'chavs' ?
you are, the twunt.

I know a couple of people who have been royally fucked over by this cuntish company, one of them being a bloke whos about late 60's, enjoys a pipe and has a mild in my local once or thrice a week. oh, hes widowed, but always has a good smile and has his comments about how shite this country is going.

Why the fuck is he a 'chav'??

I suggest you fuck off, you Mummy and Daddy licking your fucking arse clean twunt, and be careful of the comments you come out with -and heres a saying, and I hope you can understand English, and if you can't make sure your Mummy and Daddy are finished licking your arse clean after you have had a shit, "Put your Brain into Gear before you put your Mouth into Motion."

Sorry mods, but he's a twat, and I stand by my comment.

# Wait what is this story?
I don't see what the problem is, they don't have to give anything the end of the day.
Just because a company makes a profit doesn't mean they have to give it to everyone does it?
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:45, archived)
# Yes.

# What does it matter?
a business is IN the business of making money. AND they want to give YOU (or whomever) £250K of it back. I'd say YIPPEE!!

The only REAL problem I perceive with today's world is the growing divide between the haves and the have nots. Is it the same in the UK?
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:47, archived)
# If you read the papers, yes.
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:48, archived)

between the chavs and the chav-nots

that worries me.

# money does not equal class
some poor people are decent,
some rich people are scum sucking chavs.

I don't really care, as long as none of them are foreign.
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:55, archived)
# yes
massively.. it is getting worse all the time, National Audit Office recently published a report that said the diveide was greater than ever and growing.

the guy who owned fair pack, his dad owned a company which went under. his dad is also some rich cunty toff who was head of the CBI. wtf? he cant run his own fucking company, whats he doing as head of the CBI??

fairpak is a scam by rich people to fleece the poor, like wgencies who pay minimum wage and get rich of the work of the poor while thier arses get fat sat in their agenncy offices..

// rant over... for now!
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 23:51, archived)
# the main problem is that
rich people are so mobile these days that no country can tax them fairly. If one country raises taxes on the really rich, they jet off somewhere else. Mobility defines prosperity

# On the other hand...
...Tesco is nothing to do with farepak so why should they give a sh*t if farepak has gone bust? Not their problem!

So you could say that offering £1/4 million of money they could keep is a nice gesture of goodwill.

Also, minor thought but what's the point in those Xmas hamper saving schemes anyway? Surely people would be better off putting the money into a savings account until Xmas instead of giving it to Farepak or whoever to get a basket of assorted food most of which they probably don't like anyway! It's far less likely that a bank will go bust and even then the government steps in to safeguard the customers under the monetary banking laws....

...wouldn't catch me giving £2 a week toward a cardboard box of spam and garibaldi biscuits once a year!
