Funny, I was even getting complimented on my reo (Maori), which is surprising since I'm nowhere near fluent..
but compared to where I started, I guess I'm improving.

learning languages after childhood ends is rough - adult brains just don't adapt as easily to the plan, so good on you.

True, but I believe that ancestral languages do come kinda naturally, if you open up to it.
Certainly I find German and Maori easy to pick up.. haven't tried Norwegian or Gaelic yet.
