When I was 12
and on holiday in america, i threw away $87 by accident because i was holding the money in the same hand as a napkin, and decided to throw away the napkin.
It was a hard choice between rummaging through a bin in the middle of a shopping mall, or losing my $87.
I opted for the latter.

I decided that
if I pretended nothing had happened, then no-one would ever have to find out about my idiocy, and therefore, if no-one knew, then it didn't happen, and therefore, I did not lose $87.
However, this logic failed me when I wanted to buy myself a drink...

I'd have been horrified to search through a bin like some Earls Court tramp.
Had I done that as a child however, my father would probably have sent me, head first, diving into the bin.
