[challenge entry] Looking at my toaster this morning, this idea 'popped up'.

It worked better in my head than in reality but that's probably due to my current skill level!

Getting photoshop this week so hopefully things will improve :)

Incidentally for those fonts not on the net, how do you all match them so well?

# with tracing paper

# I use silly putty
just push it against the text and peel away to get the font you want. it's magic.

Might only work on newspapers actually

# But...
How do you get "other" letters?

Take this for an example.

Started with Dualit, how do I get other letters that match the font?
(, Mon 3 Mar 2008, 13:51, archived)
# either find the exact font
or make new bits out of existing word if it allows (this doesn't really)

Or use a completely new typeface
(, Mon 3 Mar 2008, 13:54, archived)
# Yup.
A new but similar typeface is the answer.
(, Mon 3 Mar 2008, 14:05, archived)
# splendid
but the all chrome classic is the best one.

# That's what I've got
But I'm not good enough to match the colouring/shading using paint so I chose an easier option.

# If I don't have an exact match, I either make up the parts I need from the rest of the logo/type
or just find a typeface that's nearly correct and use 'shop to bend and mold it into a match for the rest of the lettering, which is what I just did for the 'Mony' one above...
(, Mon 3 Mar 2008, 13:50, archived)
# OK
So with Photoshop I'll be able to do it better than with paint like my attempt above?
(, Mon 3 Mar 2008, 13:53, archived)
# Photoshop better than paint. In all ways.
