After debating whether or not to get a 50mm/f1.8 portrait or a 75-300mm/f4-5.6 zoom lens, in the end I decided to get both, and a polarising filter for the zoom.
To counteract my guilt at spending such on myself, I am having a CD player and a copy of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club sent to my 10yo nephews.
