This is WHY you should always park your car in gear. So when the handbrake fails it stays where you left it ?

Only utter imbeciles don't park their car in gear (and steered towards the kerb when on an incline)

If you're a Yank who can't drive a normal car, never leave your car in gear. If, like the rest of the world, you are not baffled by simple controls, leave your car in gear.

This is a normal post I used to think like this.
Until I did get a car with an automatic. For your dreary, basic, day to day driving, it's fucking fantastic, though I also have a tiny Spitfire on the side for a bit of manual fun :)

The car shouldn't roll off on its own. I'm not familiar with the slushboxes on old Mustangs, but if it has an electric gear selector, anything could happen.

If I lived in a part of the world where I could stay in one gear for more than two or three minutes, I'd love a manual. Also, automatics have a fun 'go-karty' appeal as well. Well, they do if you drive a knackered 20yr old thing like mine.

This is a normal post Now try doing that with an off road crane on the side of a steep mountain.
I managed to push my ass into the air parking brake button, and away we started going down a very steep hill with me facing backwards. I managed to get turned around in time to avoid death, but not after a tree had taken the door off.
