This is a normal post I don't think verbatim reporting of social media posts can be described as overstating it.

This is a normal post (a) How many words did each post contain?
(b) How many words were written by the newspapers reporting them (including headlines but not including direct quotes)?

I would sugggest that the ratio of (b) to (a) might be weighed against the phrase 'verbatim reporting', and the latter come out wanting.

This is a normal post In the same way many people conflate 'Israel' with 'The Jews'
you're conflating reportage with comment. Newspapers would be pretty thin without the latter.
