Part of the problem seems to be that people tend to
vote for the party and not the candidate. If someone is shit at being an MP, they'll usually just get re-elected regardless of the competition.

Whist the record of an m.p is important granted the party is too.
The m.p is standing on the manifesto pledges it's party decides.
