This is a link post Nintendo doing cool stuff
And before people say that it's just a way to extract extra cash, all the cardboard model designs will be available online so you can make them yourself.

This is a normal post One cardboard kit is $69.99 the other is $79.99
That's pretty pricey. How will people make the robotic and sensor elements from the online model designs?

I like what they're doing here but they should concentrate on games rather than gimmickry - Every good game on the switch was a PC game first, with the arguable exception of Breath of the Wild, which is great if you like Zelda games but not so great if you don't.

This is a normal post Maybe the sensors are embedded in the carboard?
nice way of stopping them from being recyclable, it's Wii landfill peripherals all over again. Good old Nintendo!

This is a normal post Looks like there are white markers on the cardboard that are seen by something in the controllers.

This is a normal post The sensors are the Joycon controllers, which come with the Switch
The rest is just cardboard and string...

I think it's fkn brilliant thinking. Mr Toast I didn't think you would go from pondering that 'Maybe they are embedded' to declaring outright that it would be "landfill all over again" quite so easily.

Also that price tag includes the game software

EDIT: Example, the piano uses the little camera built into the joypad to detect key presses. It's just cardboard

This is a normal post If the designs are all online for free, what are the £50/£60 price points?
Pondering if sensors were in the cardboard and remarking that it would stop them being easily recycled (like all the ridiculous plastic add-ons that the Wii encouraged) isn't a particularly strange train of thought, is it?

This is a normal post I actually think this is a great idea
Nintendo are branching into what could be a new and dynamic way to enjoy home gaming. Almost like a middle ground of Raspberry Pi and conventional gaming.

This is most likely taking aim at the Desigtn or modify your own community. If this gets Kids and adults to explore things and be creative to new ideas/solutions, then it can only be a good thing.

Solutions dont always need to look like an ipod to be a game changer.

Too bad they don't do anything without buy the mini games that go with them. And I bet those mini games are so slight and possibly shitty that you'll wonder why you paid so much money for them, and some sheets of cardboard.
