Doubt it.
I've done this to loads of people, they really do say they've heard of these bands as they don't want to come across as uncool or out of the loop:
"Yeah, i've got that Brick Shitter tape too, only ten copies made...".
It's quite mean but i think it teaches them an important lesson in honesty, well, it would if i'd told them afterwards that i'd been taking the piss out of them in the first place.
