London in slow motion
I made this!
(It's not funny, but hopefully it's interesting. It was certainly fun to make.)
Things happen fast in London. I wondered what it would look like if it could all be slowed down.
Inspired by Trey Ratcliff's 'Stuck in Motion' technique and shot on an iPhone 4S at 60 frames per seconds using an app called SloPro. Mr Ratcliff suggests moving the camera 10x faster than a human head would normally move, and slowing the footage down 10x. I don't have a camera good enough for that, I so recorded out of a bus window and slowed the footage from 60fps to 30fps instead.
Needs music though.

It's great
But I admit I don't really understand how this works

He's sitting in a bus, filming out of the window as it drives along the street and playing back the result at a slower speed

Right, actually.
Recording out of a bus window and then halving the speed is exactly what I was doing (with the exception of the last scene, where I was doing the same thing but sitting still on the pavement instead).
SloPro on the iPhone 4S lets you record at 60 frames per second (twice the normal rate) which means slowing it down to half the original speed leaves it looking (more or less) smooth.

It's weird
'cos the motion of the bus looks normal speed whereas the people look slowed down. Makes my brainhurt

That works really well. Can definitely see it being expanded upon.
Just don't put the Cinematic Orchestra over it!

Me too
Yep... I just need a better camera now, so I can record faster and slow it down more while keeping a smooth frame rate.

blimey
That (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIArJjU8HjE) is seriously tasty. Thank you.
I've tried a few seconds from a train window going in to/out of stations, and the effect is nice, but nowhere near as good as that vide.
I definitely want a faster camera.

love it
Does not need music, wonderful just as it is. Too many things are ruined for me by being accompanied by someone else's choice of noise

Great stuff
Strangely the thing that really raised an eyebrow were the cyclists.
Two things...First, it's been 6 years since I lived in London and I'm pleased to see so many more bikes on London's roads.
Second...I can't understand why most aren't wearing helmets. It's dangerous enough in Melbourne and we've got a lot of designated paths, fewer cars on the road and a grid structured road system...and it's law to wear a helmet.
It's good to see that the good folk of London are as mad as ever.
