Chris Gavin's short animation made using only letters and a pegboard. Particularly mindblowing are the wide shots towards the end. Apologies if this has been seen a million times before - I did a quick search for title and URL on the links board and drew blanks.

i really hope that was actually done on a pegboard
and not using fancy software.

think they did use a plain peg board. It definitely looks like it, and there wouldn't be a very significant advantage to doing it in software.

holy hell.
that made me forget the reply i was thinking of posting halfway through.
oh, i guess it was that it started out kind of difficult to see the letters as shapes and not just letters, eventually it happened the opposite way around. to startling effect.
