Is this Art Punk Wednesday?

Hmmm.
I like the yeah yeah yeahs. But I'm a bit dubious of this so called "art punk" classification. All sounds a bit "Er, yeah I am so totally a punk, even though I got a 2:1 in classics from Bristol and going skiing with mum and dad in Val d'Isère every year".

I like The Strokes, they must be art punks, they all went to fancy pants private schools in Manhattan.
Are Pixies art punk? They met at a reputable east coast university. Well the main two. They at least had the decency to drop out though.

agree with you
liked the first yyy album but they got dreadfully boring after that. got away with it because NME had tongues planted up their (and the strokes) behinds. it was a plastic 'scene' - contrived blend of fashion and music nostalgia.
if youre into female fronted garage rock dont pass by the alternatives: mr airplane man, thee headcoatees, the delmonas

Is it infra dig to admit to quite liking the Ting Tings, or are they totally sad?

Not sure what infra dig means but like what you like to listen to I say.
For instance I like Christine and the Queens which is not very rock and or roll but I like it

Infra dignitatem: beneath one's dignity.
I really liked that album they did, but they somehow seemed to be trying way too hard.

Ah, not up on my acient latin slang.
Try Charleur Humaine.
It's their first album in a mix of French and English.
I suspect the English second album had marketing polishing it.
Ignore that, just listened to both again and it's just the track listings slightly different. Still like it though.

I know what you mean, I personally thinks it's her affected working class accent in the song.
It's maybe too hammy and trying to hard to be cool?

If you're too well off to be punk you're not punk.
You'll have to join the ranks of Good Charlotte and Blink 182 and call yourself 'Sport Rock' or 'Nu-Ass' or something.

I agree.
Real punk can only be the rejection of the mainstream and bourgeois by the lumpenproletariat. If it has artistic pretensions, it ain't punk.
