This is a question Ignorance

I once was in a programming class where the task was "build a calculator". A student did one with buttons 1, 2, 3 all the way up to about 25 and then ran out of space on the screen. We've asked this before but liked it so much we're asking again: What's the best example of ignorance you've encountered?

I bought a ticket from newcastle to Motherwell a few years ago
only to discover the train had been cancelled and a replacement bus put on. Not wanting to take hours getting the bus, I decided to go for another train to Edinburgh, where I could get a train to motherwell. Completely ignoring the "By any route possible" printed in large letters on the ticket, I purchased a second ticket and got the train, which went via carlisle. I arrived in Edinburgh to discover all trains to motherwell cancelled, so BOUGHT ANOTHER TICKET and got on the replacement bus. The driver had a Geordie accent. It was the bus that left newcastle several hours previously.

It wasn't until I arrived in motherwell and phoned my friend for a lift home that he pointed out my first ticket would have done. £140 odd quid up the shiter.
