This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

Up North
Belfast zoo is called the AhZoo by city councilmen. Us plebs can say the word "zoo" without fancying it up somewhat.

Also, whilst wearing your pajamas to the shops is scummy but common everywhere, women in Belfast have been seen in full make-up, teased hair, high heels and jammies getting onto buses to go into the town.

ah ha!
Is that cos they're going to change and drink lambrini round a mate's before going out? Esp if the weather's crap...

I only asked 'cos on one of the estates round here, the ladies wear slippers when it snows, so's they don't knacker their "going out" shoes, and they've only got the two pairs... not "common" in my book, kinda understandable...

If you'd been to Belfast
you'd know that the short answer is "no".

People from the West only have friends in the West, same for North and East. People from South Belfast aren't proper common and therefore may travel to friends but never in their sleepwear.

And I believe this fine young example was spotted at 10am.
