take some advice from me as a dad with a daughter myself
you think you had the right answers.
Oh and the whole being nice to you thing that's because its his daughters feelings involved.
Start to worry if the old man suggests a outdoor activity like.... i don't know off the top of my head paint balling.

Lulling the boyfriend into a false sense of security is the calm before the storm.
Unless he does like you but you will never know unless he tries to bum you but that's the only like you're likely to get.

Dads are just protective of their daughters that's the way we roll.

Oh I know we're protective!
I've also got a daughter from by my ex-wife and my girlfriend has a daughter by her ex too.

So all in all I'll end up Dad to two daughters whilst watching my back in case of sudden bumming from potential father in law lol!
