Men have more places to stash thingsInside jacket pockets x 2 (or more)
Outside jacket pockets x 2 (or more)
Front trouser pockets x 2 (or more)
Back trouser pockets x 2 (or more)
Shirt pocket(s)
Women have one: handbag
They can't use pockets; as it would 'spoil the line'. So they have to spend half an hour rummaging through a lot of stuff in one place, rather than just reach quickly into one place with nothing else in it.* Usually a lot more stuff than an equivalent bloke would have distributed about pockets (generally, no curling tongs/hairbrushes/makeup/sanitary products etc.)
*Unless they've put it somewhere else, in which case they have to spend half an hour checking every pocket. Twice.

I've wondered about thisbut surely "I only have one big handbag" is even more of an argument for getting your money/ticket whatever ready in plenty of time, or at the very least making sure you know where it is, instead of waiting until the last possible moment. Or am I being too rational?
