This is one for the Darwin Awards
Lying in the bath aged 9 or 10. I notice the bulb is missing from the socket above my head. The lightswitch was one of those string things that you pull. Hmmm... was the electricity on or off? There was only one way to be sure - stand up and poke my fingers into the socket!

One blue flash and loud bang later and I had to go have a lie down. :-(

You're not alone
I've done similar when changing a bulb in a cellar without a torch. All was fine until the cellar door shut, making everything go very dark. I went to find the socket and accidentally stuck my finger in it.
It feels like something is continually biting your finger very very quickly.
I thought it was a rat and shit myself.....literally. Even a boil wash couldn't get those boxers clean.

Was it a low ceiling
or were you an extremely tall 9 yr old?
