This is a question Faking it

Rakky writes, "We've all done it. From qualifications to orgasms, everyone likes to play 'let's pretend' once in a while."

So when have you faked it? Did you get away with it? Or were your mendacious ways exposed?

This is a QotW answer Christmas
I fake enjoying Christmas.

I was born in to the type of family that you see regularly on Jezza and Trisha demanding DNA tests etc...

I love my family, however I do not like my family. Spending time with them whilst they get drunk and obnoxious is not what the festive season should be about. I took a decision a few years back to knock the pretence on the head and now spend the day under my duvet eating chocolate and watching schmaltzy movies, which is ace.

People from non – dysfunctional families can’t understand this, which is why it is much easier to lie to them and fake Christmas.

This is a QotW comment I can totally understand this
I really like Christmas - the time off work, the excuse to drink all day long - but spending it time with my family is not part of the fun. I think this is down to the hideous memories I have of being shunted from one house to another, repeatedly, over any holiday or birthday time - fucking awful. No time for fun - we've a schedule to keep to!

That and having to be thrilled and delighted and talkative and 'on show' all the damn time, with no space to just sit and be. Oh, and the 'of course I won't mind if you go elsewhere, I'm fine by myself' maternal guilt trips... Aaaaaaarghhhhhhhhhh!

Now, I spend the time with friends, or by myself, and have a perfectly lovely time.
