This is a question Family codes and rituals

Freddy Woo writes, "as a child we used to have a 'whoever cuts doesn't choose the slice' rule with cake. It worked brilliantly, but it's left me completely anal about dividing up food - my wife just takes the piss as I ritually compare all the slice sizes."

What codes and rituals does your family have?

Haha! That's ace!
Similarly, years ago my friend started a couple of traditions which I still do 16 years on, and which have spread exponentially among the people I have introduced them to...

When going over speedbumps we bounce up and down vigorously as if each bump is three feet high. This is most amusing if there is a car coming towards us.

And when going over humptyback bridges we throw our arms in the air as if on a rollercoaster. Sometimes we go "aaaah!" too.
