This is a question Family codes and rituals

Freddy Woo writes, "as a child we used to have a 'whoever cuts doesn't choose the slice' rule with cake. It worked brilliantly, but it's left me completely anal about dividing up food - my wife just takes the piss as I ritually compare all the slice sizes."

What codes and rituals does your family have?

Probably already on here, but...
... whenever the ice cream man came round our way, my parents would tell me that if the music was playing it meant he had run out.

Bastards.

My Nan
Used to send me out with a jug for some icecream to go with the home grown fruit. Bloke with van always thought it was great!

an ice cream van
goes past the back of my house sometimes. the music is stupidly loud, loud enough to anger me when I'm on TF2. the odd thing is, the road behind my house ends at the end of the street. the only turnoff is to a semi-abandoned factory and a skipyard. I still don't know why he goes there.

I now have the pleasure of passing the same ritual down to my children,.. mwah mwah.
