This is a question Family codes and rituals

Freddy Woo writes, "as a child we used to have a 'whoever cuts doesn't choose the slice' rule with cake. It worked brilliantly, but it's left me completely anal about dividing up food - my wife just takes the piss as I ritually compare all the slice sizes."

What codes and rituals does your family have?

I went through this
over the summer.

I filed for divorce last Friday and feel MASSES happier now.

I've met someone new and can now realise what a crappy relationship I was in before, which at the time seemed "normal" to me.

Do yourself a favour, no matter how hard it may seem and I know you'll have doubts, regrets etc it REALLY does get better and you'll be happier and stronger sooner than you would expect.

Honestly though, looking back I had aspirations of resolving our differences etc but once that damage is done I know I could never love and trust that person again without doubts & worry.

Whatever you decide, good luck. Just know there is the opportunity for a better and happier life out there. Also before everyone tells you the story of doom and gloom about solicitors/legal situations etc you need to know you have a lot MORE rights than you'll be told. Go get some free legal advice and remember you can't be prevented from seeing your kids nor left penniless etc.
