This is a question I'm your biggest Fan

Tell us about your heroes. No. Scratch that.

Tell us about the lengths you've gone to in order to show your devotion to your heroes. Just how big a fan are you?

and we've already heard the fan jokes, thankyou

I got down on my knees and told him I was not worthy, Wayne's World-style
because the then-still-alive John Peel was just about my ultimate hero at the time.

He was a real gent, he told me I was worthy and to get up.

Was lucky enough to say hello to him
after he'd DJ'd at the Finlandia BAr @ The Big Chill - played some utterly brilliant tunes and was a thoroughly decent chap - shame he carked it about 4 months later.

Odd that
Because when I worked at Radio 1 I saw tons of famous people coming and going and it never phased me but whenever I saw John Peel I was really tempted to do exactly that.
I'm glad you did and his response was exactly as I thought it might be.
Thanks for confirming it :)
