This is a question The nicest thing someone's ever done for me

In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.

In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.

Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

Not me
In my first semester at uni we had the nicest lecturer in the world. His name was Greg, and he was American. One day he came in and he was totally bald. We were a little confused since for an old fella he had a handsome head of hair and we were a little stumped as to why he would shave it off and risk it never growing back.

It turns out his 21 year old nephew had been diagnosed with cancer and he was distraught at losing his hair from chemo, so Greg shaved his head so he wouldn't be alone.

oddly enough

I have a transplant upcoming for the big C and all looks well. For the first time in months i have what looks like hair on my head, only to lose it again when I have the transplant. More than anything, I want my hair back. Not out of vanity mind you ( at least not all) but just for a sense of normalcy. I hope all goes well with said nephew =)

My mum
Did this as well, but she didn't even really know the woman who was ill.
A very noble, brave, heartless thing to do, and I think everyone should have a go at being bald for a good cause.
