reactolites were a brand name refering to glass photochromic lenses back in the day, as you correctly pointed out. You are probably wearing transition lenses.
The big issue is that they don't react to light bulbs, they are sensitive to UV and as far as I know all light bulb and fluorescent tubes are shielded from this.
This is also why they don't work in the car.
