I used to do this, loads of people used to do this. The Oyster card has shut down this small bit of kindness. Well spotted.

Car parks are the same
Remember when you used to buy pay and display tickets, and if you'd over-estimated your time you either gave the ticket to a random or left it on the machine for someone else to pick up?

Not any more now many car parks are pay on exit.

I wonder how much of a profit increase such changes have made?
