This is a question Rubbish Towns

I once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.

Thanks to SpankyHanky for the suggestion

Larkhall
I'm surprised no-one's mentioned this vile, vile place yet. As Obi-wan Kenobi said; ' You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villiany.'
Its not the neds, though there are plenty of them, its the sectarian pish that pervades the place. Union flags and Rangers strips everywhere. 12th July is like Mardi-Gras. If there's a Rangers v. Celtic match on, anything green is obliterated; traffic lights, shop fronts, green cars. I'm not kidding. Even some big-name companies have changed their shop fronts to avoid offending the hatchet faced protestant locals. The town itself isn't too shabby, but the looks on everyones faces when you drive through the town are just pure unadulterated hatred. I could go on but it's making me angry just typing this

odd that ...
i was thinking about Cumnock and a bunch of other places along the A70 in much the same way ... calling the gents hanging around outside pubs (with mandatory replica Rangers tops) "Neanderthal" is a slur on Neanderthals ... when driving through, i'd swear that they can actually *smell* outsiders ...

"You have no mines, no jobs, no hope, no education and no future. What are you going to do?"
"Haw man, at least wir no Catholic, by the way. This we will maintain pal. Gottae problem wi' that?"

Ahh Cumnock...
The Larkhall of Ayrshire! At least Cumnockians have had the train service for years. Lanarkshire folks are so insular; I remember hearing one chav saying it was time for her annual shopping trip to Hamilton. FOUR MILES AWAY. Glasgow is the biggest mega-adventure ever for them.

I remember a sign outside a pub in Larkhall
"Sunday - LIVE FOOTBALL"

"RANGERS v THEM"
