This is a question Tightwads

There's saving money, and there's being tight: saving money at the expense of other people, or simply for the miserly hell of it.

Tell us about measures that go beyond simple belt tightening into the realms of Mr Scrooge.

since the big move to Canada
I've noticed one glorious thing: all bills are included in rent over here. We use our tumble drier all day. Our heat is on all winter and our AC on all summer. Cable TV is free. I hooked up a phone service that was leasing the line from someone else, then cancelled it, and they have been totally unable to disconnect me. I pay my neighbours a measly sum of money for their unlimited high speed internet. Oh, and rent is about 40% that of London prices too.

In short, anyone who values beer tokens over ones that top up the gas meter will do pretty well to move here.

Thats awesome.
Its similar here in Spain too. I just pay for electricity and water, which during the summer months my electric was 20 euros a month. Water was 15 euros.

But theres no TV License and no council tax for renting. And yes rent is cheap here too. About £350 a month for a 2 bed 2 bath ground floor apartment with nice views, communal outdoor swimming pool, secure garage parking and storage.
Ive never been so better off!

but you live in the South
here in Barcelona, you'll be lucky to find a fucking ROOM for 350 a month. Flats go from 6-700 of your British pounds a month upwards

Canada is great!
I had a huuuuge one bed flat, all inclusive, (A/C, dishwasher, tumble dryer, Cable TV, phone, fast internet, a pool, a gym, and a garage), and I paid $525 a month. What's that, about £290 pcm?

I miss my hometown, sometimes.

It depends...
On who wins the elections here in the US. If'n we can't shove the Bible beaters back in their compounds and "Tribulation Survival Communities", then you may see me on a Great White North street corner near you. Toss me a Loony if you see me, would you? I think at this point my political and religious leanings would qualify me for refugee status...

mmm
Yeah my uncle moved to canada a few years ago and always says how great it is there.
Maybe if it all goes south with the mrs I may head over too (she'd never go, tied to her mums apron strings..)
