Well...they've obviously been living beyond how they should've been anyway, since they've been given extra money. Ok, not saying it's right for the IR to screw up so badly and ask for so much back, since not everyone's an expert on income tax to realise they've been underpaying, but at the end of the day, that money wasn't theirs in the first place.
