My personal experience with the Policeindicates that they are complicit in helping to keep the roads safe, controlling thuggish behaviour and protecting my family members when violently intimidated by ex-husbands (among many other things, but this is only my direct experience).
That, in my view, is what they are 'about' and if this is your attitude I hope that you don't ever need their services... and if you do I'm sure that they will help you out anyway.
