A friend of mineHas in his treasured possession a letter from him typed on his famous and very ancient typewriter. Apparently he wrote all his books and correspondence on it ( No computer for Sir Patrick! ). It was obviously very worn. He must have given his publishers nightmares when trying to decipher it, the individual letters look more like notes on a musical score than a block of text, its all up and down.
