Why don't the papers cover this sort of celebrity gossip?

I have another one for you:
Bob Stanley of St Etienne's girlfriend complained that he preferred wanking to having sex with her. So we dubbed him 'Hand Stanley'.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:29, archived)
"we"
Did you start of taking it in turns with her?

Big fan of St. Etienne, by the way - your star power is strong, this week (have had to dock marks for the Manics reference, though).

dunno what you mean m8 *whistles*
I was very good pals with Pete Wiggs at one point, he is a right fucking laugh.

I've spent this whole (brief) conversation thinking of Dubstar, by mistake.

(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:42, archived)
we've all done it

(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:48, archived)
That's a relief.
I do hope that, if QOTW is ever revived, we can do celebrity encounters again - there's something wonderfully nostalgic about all this.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:54, archived)
that's good, because if we talk about Dubstar then we don't talk about those welsh tossers
so the whole thread is Not So Manic Now.

*polite applause*

The first 3 Manics albums are fantastic
The fourth one is ok. The rest will be forgotten.

Generation Terrorists was good, I'll grant them that.

I think Holy Bible is utterly brilliant
I'm not ashamed
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:39, archived)
Each to their own.
I can't afford to fall out with you as well as manolith.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:44, archived)
Why should we fall out?
I shall promise you this. Should we ever meet in person, I promise not to play any Manic Street Preachers at full volume. Deal?
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:46, archived)
I think we're doing the internet wrong.
Neither of us is getting particularly angry.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:52, archived)
I'm not going to get angry over a band
What am I, 15?
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:56, archived)
DEFINITELY not

stone, maybe

to be fair, if you tolerate this
then your children will be next
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 10:01, archived)
I'm angry about how upset you aren't.
Seems you have defeated me, old man.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 10:04, archived)
if it helps, i don't give two shits about the manics

(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:55, archived)
Are we friends, again?
I've been living in fear of you using your mod powers to make me look foolish.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 10:06, archived)
I think he's been taking this 'making you look foolish' thing a bit far and I hope he stops it soon

(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 10:08, archived)
it doesn't matter what he does
the only person manolith makes look foolish is himself!
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 10:14, archived)
You've got to admire his speed, though.
There's a Swiftian wit to most of what I post, but you'd never know it.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 10:34, archived)
I'll be in terrible trouble for saying this but I don't like them at all
I cannot actually think of a band with more pompous, pseudo-intellectual 'look at me, I've been to university' lyrics.

Sorry guys.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:41, archived)
Don't apologise
I like a bunch of things that some people find objectionable. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:44, archived)
^ speaking the truth, as ever.

(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:44, archived)
this needs no apology
they really were terrible
(, Wed 12 Aug 2015, 9:49, archived)
you're just saying what we were all thinking
