We were _almost_ best friends...
About ten years ago, a then-classmate of mine, noticing my father waiting in the car park to give me a lift home, wandered over to the car to ask whether it was ok for he and young Aljrob to be friends.
This would be a charming tale of the amusing things that young children say and so on, were it not for the fact that my class were studying for our GCSE's at the time...
I think his social skills got lost in the mail.
Long time lurker, first time poster etc

Re: Splendid Oaf
Oooo, ooo, must have suppressed my trainer memories until I read that - my 'loving' parents provided me with a succession of crap trainers, involving the aforementioned Kingfisher (think that was Woolies, right?), Gola, Hi-Tec and so on, but the real low point was the 'Noke' ones from the market. I used to beg them to at least buy ones with no branding after that.
A few years earlier, Mum had presented me with a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Tartles" T-Shirt.
I never stood a chance.
